Pieces Of Me...Reflecting On 2014

Tonight I found myself seating and reflecting on 2014.... with a glass of wine of course. It has been a year of many challenges, life lessons and great new beginnings.  In the rush of our day to day we forget to stop and reflect on how far we have come and what changes we must make in order to reach our new goals.

As I prepare to work on my vision board for 2015 and set new goals, I am amazed on how 2014 has shaped a different me. I am in a no way, shape or form the same woman that began this year. I’ve learned so much about myself and know I have so much more growing to do. This year more then ever I've learned that it’s a journey and that’s what it’s about...the journey.  If I had to narrow down my lessons or go back in time I would definitely tell myself this.

Never Put Your Happiness In Someone Else’s Hands.
No matter how much someone loves and cares for you, only you know what
truly makes you happy. Follow your heart.

Never Settle, Not Even One Bit!
It is okay to be selfish, to have expectations, goals and whatever else you feel to be important. Never settle for good when you know deep down inside there is great out there!

Love Your Self First, Completely and Unconditionally!
It doesn't happen overnight and it might be one of the hardest things you ever do,
but it truly is the most important. We can't love others or expect them to love us when we can't sincerely love the person in the mirror.

Count Your Blessings!
There are more great things in your life then those that you cry about.
Don't forget how far you have come and the great things around you.

Trust God's Timing!
Things don't always happen when we want them to or how we want them to.
What is meant to be will be, when it’s meant to be.

With just days away from the beginning of a new year I hope you too take time to reflect on the challenges, life lessons and great new beginnings of 2014. Set a few short-term goals and revisit a few of your long-term ones. Create a list of places or things to do that make you happy and remind you how great life can be. Leave behind any negativity, doubts and fears.... simply live the life you dream of.

As always Queens stay beautiful, love yourself and everything else will fall in place!

XoXo

My Love Affairs With Flats...

Oh my love affair with flat… started around 2003. See somehow I stepped on a toothpick, yes I said a stupid toothpick! It was the summer before my junior year of high school and I had come home from my summer job. I took off my shoes and walked into the living room, where we had a thick shaggy rug. Somehow there was a toothpick and I steeped on it. We didn’t even have toothpicks at home! To make a long story short, the following morning I ended in the hospital and it was like I never left. I had six  surgeries  between that July and April 2003. So clearly high heels have near been my thing. Though I think they are absolutely beautiful and wish I could walk at least to the car in them.  So I began my love affair with flats, always looking for comfortable and fabulous ones to make my outfits. Check out a few I am hoping to add to my collection this fall! Ballerina Flats with Gems (Zara) $ 59.90  Leather Ballet Flats with Blow (Zara) $ 59.90  Printed  Leather Slippers (Zara

Rules of Styling You Must Never Forget!

'Fashions fade, style is eternal.' - Yves Saint Laurent Read more at http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/blogs/542820/the-40-best-style-quotes-of-all-time.html#SYrae4BgEz4L73EZ.99 I had the great pleasure of styling the  award-winning activist, choreographer, and writer,   Mark Travis Rivera ,  for the opening night of  the 4th Annual Six Degrees of Separation: Balance vs. Chaos showcase at  The Actors Fund Arts Center !   When it comes to styling,  whether  someone like the talented Mark Travis Rivera, a friend, or your fabulous self, it's important to keep three rules in mind.  One, style is totally personal! There is no right or wrong, so step out the box and go with what makes you feel good.  Two, accessories are everything! I mean what better way to give your outfit life then with a signature necklace, bag or why not just both?! Three and most important of all, don't forget to wear your  confidence!  It's truly what sets you apart from the rest.
