My Guide to an Effective Vision Board

“A vision is not just a picture of what could be;
it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.”
(Rosebeth Moss Kanter)

For the past few years I've made sure that by mid-January I've created my new vision board for the New Year. Its something that I use to motivate, encourage and remind myself of the great things I wish to accomplish and what is truly important to me. As I always say, it’s so easy to get lost in our day to day and forget about ourselves.

For my ladies that aren't too clear, a vision board is a sheet of poster board with cutouts from magazines of words, quotes and pictures. Some also buy color paper, stickers and other items used for scrap-booking too.  The purpose of the board is to bring clarity and in a way bring to life your vision. Whether it’s an area you like to improve on, goals you wish to achieve or an affirmation of your purpose and dreams.

When creating an effective vision board I feel it important to remember the following...

# 1 There are NO rules! Let your creativity flow. If it speaks to you, add it! Use it all…markers, crayons, color paper, stickers, and so on. Make it a collage of pictures or use only words...it’s all up to you!

#2  It doesn't need to make sense to others! Your vision board is personal and it’s okay if others don't fully understand what something may mean.  For example, on my 2015 vision board below, you'll see the words "Don't Judge Me". It’s a reminder to myself  not to judge myself too harshly. As we all know we can be our own worst critic at times.

# 3 It’s a work in progress! Like the many things on my board, I find the board its self at times to be so too. I've found myself midyear adding a quote or small picture to the aboard. As we grow and change so do are goals.

#4 Don't put it away! Make sure it’s in a place that you where you will see it often. The vision board I made in 2013 is framed in my office. It’s my favorite and truly centers me on long days.

So ladies this weekend pour yourself a nice glass of wine, pull out some old magazines and let the creativity flow!  Remember no goal is too small and no dream is too big.

My Love Affairs With Flats...

Oh my love affair with flat… started around 2003. See somehow I stepped on a toothpick, yes I said a stupid toothpick! It was the summer before my junior year of high school and I had come home from my summer job. I took off my shoes and walked into the living room, where we had a thick shaggy rug. Somehow there was a toothpick and I steeped on it. We didn’t even have toothpicks at home! To make a long story short, the following morning I ended in the hospital and it was like I never left. I had six  surgeries  between that July and April 2003. So clearly high heels have near been my thing. Though I think they are absolutely beautiful and wish I could walk at least to the car in them.  So I began my love affair with flats, always looking for comfortable and fabulous ones to make my outfits. Check out a few I am hoping to add to my collection this fall! Ballerina Flats with Gems (Zara) $ 59.90  Leather Ballet Flats with Blow (Zara) $ 59.90  Printed  Leather Slippers (Zara

Rules of Styling You Must Never Forget!

There is no right or wrong, so step out the box and go with what makes you feel good.  Two, accessories are everything! I mean what better way to give your outfit life then with a signature necklace, bag or why not just both?! Three and most important of all, don't forget to wear your  confidence!  It's truly what sets you apart from the rest.
